The purpose of this society is simple. To acquire knowledge and help others acquire knowledge.

The sort of knowledge to be acquired is of course a vague subject which must be addressed and clarified.

Imagine a hallway, the name of which is “Knowledge”. In the hallway are many doors, each leading to a specific field of study i.e. “Philosophy”, “Auto Mechanics”, “Psychology”, “Politics”, “Theology”, “Sailing” etc.

The purpose of this blog is to look through the doorway of any of the doors, but not enter fully. We want to remain in the hallway, without entering fully into any one door. Someone wishing to explore the deep intricacies of String Theory will not find this site helpful. Someone desiring a cursory overview and simple (not exhaustive) article on the Vietnam War will find this site helpful.

Anyone can be a reader of this blog.

To be a contributor, you must agree with the following statements:

1. I love knowledge

2. I love helping others learn

3. I can avoid basic spelling errors

4. I am a critical thinker

5. I am willing to consider all sides of an issue

To contribute to this society, you must also be able to meet the criteria of a “good” article.

—————————————————————————————

A “good” article will have these qualities:

1. ANYONE who desires to acquire more knowledge would be interested in this article (i.e. it doesn’t go so deep into a topic as to lose someone who doesn’t have the vast knowledge of Fuel Injectors that you do).

2. The article can be read in 5 minutes or less.

3. The knowledge contained in the article is arranged in an intelligent and purposeful way

4. The article may include photographs or video clips to enhance the reading experience.

5. The article should be written to answer a series of questions asked by the author. These questions ought to be questions anyone might ask of the subject.

6. All reference material must be cited.

Here are a number of example articles, provided by Benjamin and myself, to demonstrate what we have in mind when we say the article needs to be “good:”
